Bombing of Church of St Peter & St Paul, Navaly

The bombing of Church of St Peter and St Paul, Navaly, Jaffna, by the SL Air Force, took place on the afternoon of July 9 1990. 125 people were killed and many more injured. They had all taken refuge in the church during a SLA offensive on the peninsula.

There used to be a memorial, in the church premises, to commemorate those who died there but it has now been removed and the church re-built and re-painted so that there is no evidence whatsoever of what had occurred here.
