Valvai Massacre Monument

This monument was built by the LTTE to commemorate the civilians who were killed, between Aug 2nd & 4th 1989, after a group of IPKF soldiers were ambushed in Velivettiturai –over 50 women were raped and more than 64 men, women and children were killed during house to house searches conducted by the IPKF. This memorial no longer exists.
